During the pandemic, as a way of maintaining my theatre community, several of my friends and I got together and took this opportunity to put on a full scale virtual production of Beetlejuice The Musical. This was something that hadn’t been done yet, and upon posting promo videos for our plan on Tik Tok, our idea blew up, and next thing we knew there were so many people on Tik Tok getting together to make virtual musicals. I co-produced, co-cast and co-directed the film, as well as played the role of Delia Deetz. This casting process was completely done through social media, where we requested people to send in short audition videos by tagging us. We got over 200 auditions and the film was completely filmed virtually at home using green screen, editing and reading lines over zoom with your scene partner.
This film is now posted on Youtube with over 40k views under the title: Beetlejuice: The Unauthorized Musical Parody, and has been recognized by Warner Brothers and the Beetlejuice The Musical Creative team, including Alex Timbers and Scott brown. Upon the release of the film we even were invited by the Beetlejuice broadway team and cast to do a watch party on zoom of our project. Beetlejuice: The Unauthorized Musical Parody also won Best High School Film at NJ Film Festival.
